Feature to command henchmen will be exclusive to Chapter 3 owners and touted as additional chapter content.

It's been requested time and again to give henchies commands or make them semi smart so we can at least get the protector titles with them - PuGs are so bad these days I refuse to even try with them anymore and since guildies are gone the way of the dodo, it's henchies are nothing.

Bad news is that Gaile has stated that Anet didn't want AI wars, they would rather us spend an hour lfg, then 30 minutes of watching people run off to unlock map sections or drop after they grabbed that elite they were after... then do it again. yay! that's fun.

jeah, henchie are such idiots in there behavior..
for example we hadd killed al. but 1 shiroken warrior with 1/4 life left and our 1st healer monk and mage were dead.
during the fight the warrior dies and the other healer monk just walks up to his corpse and starts ressing while she had only 1/4 life left, and she got killed (again)... this new ressing during battle is getting them killed way faster way to go Anet.... (only reffering to the monks casting res spells)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and just say it.
(shields up! )

If you guys are to dumb to learn how the henches act and adapt
to them in the way you play when with them. You're probably too
dumb to be in a position to give them commands too.
My poor mesmer just had to do the THK bonus with them after
spending 2 hours trying to get a group going. After being booted
from a group with three (that's right... three) monks because they
decided to try for a fourth monk, I just gave up and took the henches .
The only mission / bonus I haven't been able to get with them so
far is the Aurora Glade bonus.
So.... again, if you can't learn to control yourself when working with
the henches. What makes you think you're so sharp that you can
give commands to seven others while in the middle of a tough battle?

Huh? Tell me.

Why not? I got the Aurora Glade mission/bonus with henchies. It's one of the easier ones to do. Looks like you've got some learning to do yourself...

Well, we can't exactly control the henchies when we don't have any commands apart from 'target that guy', and even that's flaky because 'that guy' has to be in your aggro circle first, and if you happen to accidentally take a step back when the henchies are going at it, they all break off combat and return to your side. I think just about everyone has learned to adapt to the henchie behaviour and do the best we can with them, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be some simple commands. When I'm out with a PUG, we sometimes discuss strategy, like, "eles, you nuke and then we'll move in." Imagine what it would be like if you couldn't communicate at all with other team members?

@WasAGuest: They're probably too busy working on the next useless trinket that'll clutter up everyone's inventory, so they don't have time to spend on trivialities like better henchie control. Ya know, stuff that'll actually improve the game. Seriously, though, it would be great if it was always possible to find a PUG where nobody ragequits or afk's, but the GW community isn't all that great in that respect, and with no support in the game for forming groups, Anet would be wise to improve henchie control in order to retain players.

This may just be me, or maybe i'm missing something fundamental but....Canthan henchies seem 100 times better than Tyrian henchies, especially the healers. If you call out that you have a condition on you in Cantha, the healer henchie actually removes it almost instantly!! Try getting Alesia to do that.

When I come back to play in Tyria I find myself wishing Tyrian henchies would get a brain transplant from their Canthan counterparts.

Has it been said anywhere by someone official that the Canthan henchies' ai was deliberately made superior to tyrian?

Maybe Prophecies would just be way too easy with Canthan henchie ai.

Also, I recently took some henchies out for a stroll from iron mines to grotto and ran into some friendly mursaat. I'm pretty sure they weren't infused since most of the poor blighters died within seconds.

I'm totally cool with monk henchmen AI, alesia isnt that bad. And res sig durning battle I'm cool with that. I like how they run with you when you turn away from the group of mobs and start running.

What I dont like is how henchmen run away, when your just running around, getting that troll or white mantle off your a--. Whenever I just run in little circle or toward henchmen, they seem to think, its time to start running, and I'm actually just finding a better spot to heal them. I havent tried ctrl shift space yet, but thats kinda stupid, it uses both your hands, lol.

I would like to make henchmen attack a mob, without me provoking it, because for me, mobs come for the person that provoked it (getting your aggro circle on him), and I dont like that, I cannot handle 2+ hexes, on me, then some warrior starts hacking my health.
